Time to Tee Up

Aspen Grove Golf Centre

The Norbraten family would like to thank our golfers who have supported us all these years! Fifty of them, and they weren’t always pretty! The first few years, the course was very dry, with lots of cracks in

the fairways and frogs everywhere.

We had caterpillars for a few years, where you didn’t even want to go out! I remember, I believe it was BCTV News from Vancouver called because they heard we had caterpillars in the clubhouse. Of course we didn’t, but if the guys came in with a caterpillar on their sleeve or back I was hauling them outside!

Then we had the wet years, where our course had been saturated.

Last year was one of those years, where we even closed for a couple of days and did not let the power carts go out for about 10 days. We have ladies’ day on Tuesdays, men’s day on Wednesdays and Seniors’ day on Thursdays.

In Dad’s latter years he could be seen wandering with his dog Josie and picking up the range balls and cleaning the fence line of the driving range!

Dad always wanted the average person to be able to afford to golf, and enjoy a game. We have tried to stay with that philosophy!

We say thanks to our mother, Marlene who ran the clubhouse for many years and actually had to put up with a lot in those first years! I remember Mom telling us that those first few years, Telus and

Finning tractor employees kept us going. So thank you.

Thank you to all who have supported us these last 50 years, there are so many special people whom we have met and have become so much more than just customers! (:

THANKS FROM THE NORBRATEN’S!
